With the Floria Handheld App, users can access map providers such as Bing and OpenStreetMap. However, these maps normally offer limited zoom levels and will require network connectivity.

If you would like to use your own maps and/or be able to use the mapping feature when you are without network connectivity, you would need to prepare a map for offline use. For customers using our map hosting service, we also include the preparation of mbtiles map files as part of the service. However, if you would like to prepare the maps files yourself, please follow this guide.

Uploading a map

Click Upload to add or update an existing offline map.

To upload a new version of an existing map, please make sure you use the exact same file name.

The Name will be used to identify the map in the provider list of the App.

Use Target Usage to decide if the map can either be accessed by staff or for the public via Explore other gardens.

Requirements

Map projection: A map will need to use the WGS84 (EPSG:3857) or the Web Mercator (EPSG:3857) projection.

File format: Floria Handheld offline maps need to be supplied using the MBTiles format (wiki.openstreetmap.org).

Copyright creditation

By filling out the Copyright, Copyright details and Copyright URL, the offline map will appropriately be credited with the necessary copyright information.

Customers using the Botanical Software Map Hosting Service, will also be offered a MBTiles database copy of the hosted map as part of the map hosting service.
